Blazing Reader,
Bob Moran's latest painting depicts Jesus standing amid the grey rubble of the Gaza Strip — a red sash in grey dust.
It's titled "11:35" — which (I assume) refers to the Bible's shortest verse, John 11:35:
"Jesus wept."
Jesus had arrived to find his friend Lazarus dead, and he felt the grief of Mary, Martha, and the others gathered around the tomb.
No matter where you stand on the Israeli–Palestinian debate, the image captures the sorrow of such a brutal and destructive conflict.
